The Night's Bloom (October 2005)
"A coming of age. Memorably graceful." - Uncut
"A true thing of beauty." - All Music Guide
"The most evocative and sweeping realization yet of Pinetop Seven's particularly cinematic aesthetic." - Pitchfork
Pinetop Seven's fifth full-length album, entitled The Night's Bloom, is finished and available now! Recorded in Chicago over a span of two years, this album rivals all previous releases in terms of sheer musical scope. The band's trademark eclectic instrumentation is once again on display, this time enhanced by the addition of a small community orchestra brought in to help render the elegant arrangements of Melissa Bach and Nate Walcott. The album features versions of "His Aging Miss Idaho" and "A Fire Burns At The Foot Of Our Bed", songs that have featured prominently in the band's live performances. Released in joint effort by Empyrean Records and Barbary Coast Recordings, The Night's Bloom is available on CD with digipak and 24-page color book - and - Double LP with gatefold jacket, heavyweight vinyl, with 3 exclusive bonus tracks. GRAND ISLEPrior to his moving to Chicago and joining Pinetop Seven, Mack Hagood spent several years living in Southeast Asia. During that time he collected an odd assortment of field recordings and cheap, market stall tapes which he sifted and manipulated by computer. Grand Isle was formed when Hagood and Pinetop Seven founder, Darren Richard, began grafting new melodies and rhythms to these found sounds, adding guitars, melodica, horns, drum machines, bamboo gamelan, piano, turntables and live percussion. Before long they had an album's worth of material. Details regarding the release will be forthcoming. |
